Today He Died

Today God died…and we celebrate it.

Or should we rather mourn that it came to God coming down to die to save us from ourselves.

Atheists and skeptics scorn the need to be saved, but the cross says differently.

Looking around in 2018, there is a lot to be saved from.

  • Pride
  • Hate
  • Greed
  • Vengeance
  • Injustice
  • Immorality
  • Violence
  • Abuse
  • Deceit
  • Dehumanization
  • Slavery
  • Idolatry
  • Unbelief
  • Vanity

We look around and we see a world that is unknowingly being usurped by the power of the evil one. An entity so bloodthirsty that he accuses and demands the wrath of God against us day and night.

The world groans in agony waiting for the rightful king to return and make all things right, joining the realm of heaven and earth.

Even today, we still need the cross. We still need Christ to die.

But there is grace here, for God is not caught off guard. He knew the price before he chose to pay it.

To deliver us from this present darkness, Christ died for our sin. This death effectively ends the evil one’s control over those who trust in Christ.

Because while today God died…that’s not the end of the story.

Sunday is coming.
